HEALTH SERVICES (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1980.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947) and by section 72 of the Health Act, 1970 (No. 1 of 1970), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Health Services (Amendment) Regulations, 1980.

(2) In these Regulations the "Regulations of 1979" means the Health Services Regulations, 1979 ( S.I. No. 109 of 1979 ).

2. Article 3 of the Regulations of 1979 is hereby amended by the substitution in sub-article (3) of "last completed contribution year before the 1st day of June proceeding the claim for services" for "contribution year immediately preceding the contribution year in which a claim for services is made".

3. Article 3 of the Regulations of 1979 is hereby further amended by—

( a ) the substitution of "£7,000" for "£5,500" in sub-article (2) (a), and

( b ) the substitution of "117" for "92" in sub-article (4).

4. (1) These Regulations, save article 3, shall come into operation on the 6th day of April, 1980.

(2) Article 3 of these Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1980.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations raise the income limit, above which there is a restriction on the extent to which services are available under section 52 (1), 56 (2), 62 and 63 of the Health Act, 1970 , from £5,500 to £7,000. The Regulations provide that the new income limit will take effect from 1st June, 1980 and will relate to income for the year which ended on 5th April, 1980.
