ROAD TRAFFIC (LICENSING OF DRIVERS) (AMENDMENT) (NO. 2) REGULATIONS, 1980.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 33 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1980.

2. Sub-article (1) of article 29 of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1964 ( S.I. No. 29 of 1964 ) is hereby amended by the insertion after sub-paragraph (a)(ii) of the following—

"or

(iii) the applicant is a person who as a member of the Permanent Defence Force within a period of five years 2prior to the application held a permit issued by the Director Cavalry Corps or the Director Supply and Transport Corps to drive vehicles of the class or classes to which the application relates and whose application is accompanied by a certificate by either such Director that the applicant is competent to drive vehicles of the relevant class or classes."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide for access to a driving licence by certain persons who are or have been members of the Permanent Defence Force.
