MONEY ORDER AMENDMENT (No. 24) REGULATIONS, 1980.

I, MARK KILLILEA, Minister of State at the Department of Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 23 of the Post Office Act, 1908, section 3 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1969 (No. 18 of 1969), and the Posts and Telegraphs (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1980 (S.I. No. 20 of 1980), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Money Order Amendment (No. 24) Regulations, 1980.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1980.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. Regulation 18 (1) of the Money Order Regulations, 1903, is hereby amended by the substitution of the following tables for Tables A and B (inserted by Regulation 4 of the Money Order Amendment (No. 23) Regulations, 1979 ( S.I. No. 264 of 1979 )) and Table C (inserted by Regulation 4 of the Money Order Amendment (No. 20) Regulations 1974 ( S.I. No. 283 of 1974 )) which set out the poundage payable in respect of money orders:

In respect of foreign money orders:

for an amount not exceeding £25.00

for an amount exceeding £25.00 but not exceeding £50.00

In respect of supplementary services:for correcting or altering the name of the remitter or payee

for stopping payment

for the issue of a duplicate money order (including stopping payment of the original order)

25p

for the renewal of a void money order

25p

for an advice or certificate of payment of an inland money order

for an advice or certificate of payment of a foreign money order

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This warrant applies to the Money Order service and comes into operation on the 1st July 1980. It authorises increases in charges on inland and foreign orders.
