ECONOMIC PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT (ALTERATION OF NAME OF DEPARTMENT AND TITLE OF MINISTER) ORDER, 1980.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6 (1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Economic Planning and Development (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1980.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 21st day of January, 1980.

2. The name of the Department of State, the present name whereof is, in the Irish language, an Roinn Pleanála agus Forbartha Eacnamaiochta and, in the English language, the Department of Economic Planning and Development, is hereby altered, in the Irish language, to that of an Roinn Fuinnimh and, in the English language, to that of the Department of Energy.

3. The title of the Minister having charge of a Department of State, whose present title is, in the Irish language, an tAire Pleanála agus Forbartha Eacnamaiochta, and, in the English language, the Minister for Economic Planning and Development, is hereby altered, in the Irish language, to that of an tAire Fuinnimh and, in the English language, to that of the Minister for Energy.

4. In any enactment—

( a ) references to the Department of Economic Planning and Development shall be construed as references to the Department of Energy;

( b ) references to the Minister for Economic Planning and Development shall be construed as references to the Minister for Energy.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order changes the name of the Department of Economic Planning and Development to that of the Department of Energy and the title of the Minister for Economic Planning and Development to that of the Minister for Energy.
