REDUNDANCY CONTRIBUTIONS (VARIATION OF RATES) ORDER, 1975.

I, MICHAEL O'LEARY, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 28 of the Redundancy Payments Act, 1967 (No. 21 of 1967), hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Redundancy Contributions (Variation of Rates) Order, 1975.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 7th day of April, 1975.

3. The weekly rates of redundancy contribution specified in section 28 of the Redundancy Payments Act, 1967 (No. 21 of 1967), are hereby varied by—

( a ) the insertion in subsection (1) of "thirteen new pence" for "ten new pence" (inserted by the Redundancy Contributions (Variation of Rates) Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 172 of 1973 )),

( b ) the insertion in subsection (2) of "five new pence" for "three new pence" (inserted by the Redundancy Contributions (Variation of Rates), Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 172 of 1972 )), and

( c ) the insertion in subsection (2) of "four new pence" for "two new pence" (inserted by the Redundancy Contributions (Variation of Rates) Order, 1972)),

and those subsections, as so varied, are set out in the Table to this Order.

TABLE

(1) An employer's redundancy contribution shall be at the rate of thirteen new pence per contribution week in respect of each eligible male employee and thirteen new pence per contribution week in respect of each eligible female employee.

(2) An employee's redundancy contribution shall be at the rate of five new pence per contribution week for an eligible male employee and four new pence per contribution week for an eligible female employee.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for an overall increase of fivepence in the rates of weekly contributions to the Redundancy Fund with effect from 7th April, 1975.

From that date the weekly rate of Redundancy contribution payable by employers will be 13p for both male and female employees. The weekly rate of contribution payable by male employees will be 5p and by female employees 4p.
