EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (BACON LEVY PERIODS) REGULATIONS, 1973.

I, JAMES GIBBONS, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Bacon Levy Periods) Regulations, 1973.

2. Section 34 (4) of the Pigs and Bacon (Amendment) Act, 1939 (No. 35 of 1939), is hereby amended—

( a ) by the substitution in paragraph (b) for "January." of "January (other than the 1st day of January, 1973);", and

( b ) by the insertion after the said paragraph (b) of the following paragraphs:

"( c ) the period commencing on the 1st day of January, 1973, and ending on the 31st day of January, 1973;

( d ) the period commencing on the 1st day of February, 1973, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1973.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations provide that the periods from 1st January, 1973, to 31st January, 1973, and from 1st February, 1973, to 31st March, 1973, shall be levy periods for the purpose of Section 34 (4) of the Pigs and Bacon (Amendment) Act, 1939 (No. 35 of 1939).
