MAXIMUM PRICES (MILK) (No. 2) ORDER, 1973.

I, JUSTIN KEATING, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 22A and 22C (inserted by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1965 (No. 23 of 1965)) of the Prices Act, 1958 (No. 4 of 1958), as amended by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1972 (No. 20 of 1972), and the Prices Stabilisation Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 96 of 1973 ), hereby order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Maximum Prices (Milk) (No. 2) Order, 1973.

2. In this Order "bottled milk" means liquid milk in any closed receptacle containing more than a half-pint in imperial measure or more than 284 millilitres in metric measure but not more than a quart in imperial measure or not more than 1.136 litres in metric measure but does not include separated milk, skim milk, buttermilk, condensed milk or cream.

3. The maximum prices at which bottled milk (other than milk described when bottled as highest grade milk) may be sold by retail shall be prices calculated in the following manner—

(a) in case the milk is bottled in quantities of one pint expressed by measure in imperial measure, at the rate of 5½p per pint (568 millilitres) during the period commencing on the 1st day of October, 1973, and ending on the 30th day of April, 1974, or

( b ) in case the milk is bottled in quantities of 500 millilitres by measure in metric measure, at the rate of—

(i) 4½p per 500 millilitres during the period commencing on the 1st day of October, 1973, and ending on the 6th day of January, 1974,

(ii) 5p per 500 millilitres during the period commencing on the 7th day of January, 1974, and ending on the 30th day of April, 1974.

4. The Maximum Prices (Milk) Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 97 of 1973 ), is hereby revoked with effect from the 1st day of October, 1973.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order fixes the maximum retail price for bottled milk as defined in the Order.
