FISH (REGULATION OF IMPORT) ORDER, 1973.

I, JOHN FAHEY, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Agricultural Products (Regulation of Import) Act, 1938 (No. 14 of 1938), and the Fisheries (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 83 of 1965 ) (as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 )), and the Fisheries (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1970 ( S.I. No. 123 of 1970 ), hereby, after consultation with the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Industry and Commerce, order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Fish (Regulation of Import) Order, 1973.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of February, 1973.

3. Article 2 of the Fish (Regulation of Import) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 148 of 1966 ), is hereby amended by the substitution for the definition of "fish" of the following definition—

" 'fish' means trout or carp imported from any country other than a member of the European Economic Community, whether such fish is fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen, and includes fillets and parts of such fish".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order removes the quantitative restrictions on the import of fish other than trout and carp imported from any country not a member of the European Economic Community.
