LOCAL GOVERNMENT (CIVIL DEFENCE OFFICES AGE LIMIT) ORDER, 1973.

I, PATRICK S. DONEGAN, Minister for Defence, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 23 of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941) (as amended by section 24 of the Local Government Act, 1955 (No. 9 of 1955) ), and the Local Government Act, 1941 (Appropriate Minister for Civil Defence Offices) Order, 1963 ( S.I. No. 43 of 1963 ), hereby declare and order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Civil Defence Offices Age Limit) Order, 1973.

(2) This Order shall come into force on the 20th day of January, 1974.

2. Subject to the provisions of subsection 23 (5) (b) (I) of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941) (as amended by the Local Government Act, 1955 (No. 9 of 1955) ), the age of sixty-five years shall be the age limit for every office under a local authority in relation to which the Minister for Defence is the appropriate Minister for the purposes of Part II of the Local Government Act, 1941 .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order fixes an age limit for every office under a local authority in relation to which the Minister for Defence is the appropriate Minister for the purposes of Part II of the Local Government Act, 1941 .
