MONEY ORDER AMENDMENT (No. 19) REGULATIONS, 1971.

I, GERARD COLLINS, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 23 of the Post Office Act, 1908, and section 3 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1969 (No. 18 of 1969), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Money Order Amendment (No. 19) Regulations, 1971.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 15th day of February, 1971.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations." means the Money Order Regulations, 1903.

5. Regulation 18 (1) of the Principal Regulations, as amended by Regulation 2 of the Money Order Amendment (No. 10) Regulations, 1921 (S.R. & O., No. 1205 of 1921), and Regulation 4 of the Money Order Amendment (No. 18) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 266 of 1968 ), is hereby amended by the substitution of the following tables for Tables A, B and C which set out the poundage and fees payable in respect of money orders:–

for an amount not exceeding £50.00 ... ...

for an amount exceeding £50.00 but not exceeding £75.00 ... ... ... ... ...

for an amount exceeding £75.00 but not exceeding £100.00 ... ... ... ... ...

In respect of foreign money orders:

for every £1.00, or fraction of £1.00, up to and including £2.00 ... ... ... ... ...

6. Regulation 25 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution of " a supplementary fee of one new penny " for " a supplementary fee of twopence".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Warrant applies to the Money Order service and comes into operation on the 15th February, 1971. It authorises the decimal currency equivalents of the poundage payable in respect of inland and foreign money orders and of the fees payable for other miscellaneous services.
