COURTS (SUPPLEMENTAL PROVISIONS) ACT, 1961 (SECTION 46) ORDER, 1971.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 46 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 , (No. 39 of 1961), as amended by section 1 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 1968 (No. 21 of 1968), hereby make the following order with respect to which, pursuant to the said section 46, as amended as aforesaid, a draft has been laid before Dáil Éireann and a resolution disapproving of the draft has not been passed by Dáil Éireann within the next subsequent twenty-one days on which it has sat after the draft was laid before it :

1. This Order may be cited as the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (Section 46) Order, 1971.

2. (1) The sums payable by way of remuneration to the several judges of the Supreme Court, the High Court and the Circuit Court and the several justices of the District Court shall be increased—

(a) by 7 per cent as on and from the 1st day of April, 1970, and

(b) by 10 per cent of the sums payable immediately before the said 1st day of April, 1970 as on and from the 1st day of January, 1971.

(2) Where a sum referred to in paragraph (1) of this Article as increased by that paragraph is not a multiple of £5, the sum shall be rounded up or down to the nearest multiple of £5, any broken amount of £2.50 or more being rounded up and any broken amount of less than £2.50 being rounded down.
