AGRICULTURAL WORKERS (WEEKLY HALF-HOLIDAYS IN WINTER PERIODS) (QUALIFYING PERIOD OF WORK) REGULATIONS, 1969.

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 6 of the Agricultural Workers (Weekly Half-Holidays) Act, 1952 (No. 26 of 1952), as amended by section 11 of the Agricultural Workers (Holidays and Wages) Act, 1969 (No. 17 of 1969), hereby make the following regulations :

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Agricultural Workers (Weekly Half-Holidays in Winter Periods) (Qualifying Period of Work) Regulations, 1969.

2. (1) The numbers of hours stated in the first paragraph of section 6 of the Agricultural Workers (Weekly Half-Holidays) Act, 1952 , as amended by section 11 of the Agricultural Workers (Holidays and Wages) Act, 1969 , are hereby varied, with respect to winter periods, as follows :

(a) " forty hours " shall be substituted for " forty-five hours ",

(b) " eight hours " shall be substituted for " nine hours ", both where the latter words occur after " less than " and where they occur after " having completed ".

(2) For the purposes of this Regulation a period beginning on the 1st day of November in any year and ending on the last day of February in the next succeeding year shall be a winter period.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these Regulations is to reduce to 40 in the winter period (November to February) the number of hours to be completed by an agricultural worker, in the five weekdays preceding the day on which a half-holiday is to be allowed, to entitle him to a half-holiday in that week.
