OIL POLLUTION OF THE SEA (CONVENTION COUNTRIES AND CONVENTION AMENDMENT COUNTRIES) ORDER, 1967.

I, ERSKINE H. CHILDERS, Minister for Transport and Power, being satisfied that the governments of the countries specified in Part I of the Schedule hereto have accepted the International Convention for Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954, and being satisfied that the governments of the countries specified in Part II of the Schedule hereto have accepted the amendments to that Convention which were adopted on the 11th day of April, 1962, by the Conference of Contracting Governments to that Convention, hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 19 (1) of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (No. 25 of 1956), and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Oil Pollution of the Sea (Convention Countries and Convention Amendment Countries) Order, 1967.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 5th day of January, 1968.

2. It is hereby declared that the countries specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order have accepted the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954.

3. It is hereby declared that the countries specified in Part II of the Schedule to this Order have accepted the amendments to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954, which were adopted on the 11th day of April, 1962, by the Conference of Contracting Governments to that Convention.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order declares that the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954 has been accepted by the countries specified in Part I of the Schedule to the Order and that the countries specified in Part II of the Schedule have accepted the amendments to the Convention which were adopted in April, 1962.
