CUSTOMS-FREE AIRPORT (EXTENSION OF LAWS) (No. 3) REGULATIONS, 1967.

I, Erskine H. Childers, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 13 of the Customs-free Airport Act, 1947 (No. 5 of 1947), (as amended by section 11 of the Customs-free Airport (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 29 of 1958) ), and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Customs-free Airport (Extension of Laws) (No. 3) Regulations, 1967.

2. The Exchange Control Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 121 of 1967 ), shall extend to the Customs-free Airport.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations extend to the Customs-free Airport the Exchange Control Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 121 of 1967 ).

The Exchange Control Regulations, 1967, amend the Exchange Control Regulations, 1959 (1) by providing that all foreign currency shall be specified currency, i.e. currency which must be offered for sale to an authorised dealer and which, apart from Rhodesian pounds, may be accepted in payment for exports to countries outside the Scheduled Territories (Sterling Area)—previously only certain foreign currency was specified currency; (2) by consolidating and re-arranging in alphabetical order the list of Scheduled Territories and including Barbados separately in the list instead of under a general heading for British territories; (3) by appointing the Allied Irish Investment Corporation Ltd. to be an authorised dealer for the purposes of the Exchange Control Acts.
