TELEPHONE (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1965.

I, MICHAEL HILLIARD, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Telegraph Act, 1885, and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Telephone (Amendment) Regulations, 1965.

(2) The Telephone Regulations, 1959 and 1964, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Telephone Regulations, 1959 to 1965.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 22nd day of March, 1965.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. Regulation 5 of the Telephone Regulations, 1959, shall be amended as follows:—

(a) in subparagraph (b) of paragraph (2) "threepence halfpenny" is hereby substituted for "twopence half-penny";

(b) in subparagraph (a) of paragraph (3) "four pence" is hereby substituted for "three pence";

(c) in subparagraph (b) of paragraph (3) "four pence" is hereby substituted for "three pence".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of these Regulations is to amend the Telephone Regulations, 1959, to provide for the following increases in local call charges:

(1) Increase in the charge to the renter of a coin-box exchange line from 2½d. to 3½d.

(2) Increase in the amount charged to the caller from a coin-box exchange line or public telephone from 3d. to 4d.
