IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (NO. 149) (BEDDING) ORDER, 1965.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section I of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), and section 22 of the Finance Act, 1962 (No. 15 of 1962), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (No. 149) (Bedding) Order, 1965.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 24th day of December, 1965.

3. The Imposition of Duties (No. 128) (Customs Duties and Form of Customs Tariff) Order, 1962 ( S.I. No. 163 of 1962 ), is hereby amended by—

(a) the deletion of the matter in the first, third, fourth and fifth columns of the Schedule at tariff heading number 62·02(A)(4),

(b) the insertion in the first column of the Schedule at tariff heading number 62·02(A)(4) of "Tufted bedspreads",

(d) the insertion in the first column of the Schedule after tariff heading number 62·02(A)(4) of "(5) Other", and

(e) the insertion in the second, third, fourth and fifth columns of the Schedule at tariff heading number 62·02(A)(5) (inserted by this Order) of "(a)", "50%", "50%" and "50%" respectively.

4. The Imposition of Duties (No. 131) (Reduction of Rates of Customs Duties) Order, 1962 ( S.I. No. 214 of 1962 ), and the Imposition of Duties (No. 142) (Reduction of Rates of Customs Duties) Order, 1963 ( S.I. No. 262 of 1963 ), shall apply and have effect in relation to goods to which this Order applies as if this Order had come into operation immediately before the 1st day of January, 1963.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for the imposition of a minimum specific duty of customs on tufted bedspreads at a nett rate of fifteen shillings each.
