GREYHOUND RACE TRACK (TOTALISATOR) (QUINELLA TREBLE FORECAST) REGULATIONS, 1964.

Bord na gCon, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by subsection (3) of Section 40 and by subsection (3) of Section 5 of the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958 (No. 12 of 1958), hereby makes the following regulations, which shall constitute the terms of contract on which bets may be made and accepted on the Quinella Treble Forecast totalisator pool, that is to say :—

1 Definitions :—

1. In these regulations :—

(a) The words and expressions used shall have the meanings assigned to them in the Greyhound Race Track (Totalisator) (Operating) Regulations, 1960 (No. 65 of 1960).

(b) " Quinella Treble Forecast Pool " means a pool for nominating the winning greyhound and the second greyhound in either order in respect of three selected races.

2 Minimum number of runners.

2. Quinella treble forecast pools shall be held only on races in which there are at least three advertised runners.

3 Issue of tickets.

3. Separate tickets shall be issued in respect of each selected race in the pool. Bets for the first selected race shall only be made up to the time of the start of that race. Holders of winning tickets for the first selected race shall exchange their tickets up to the time of the start of the second race of the pool for a ticket bearing a combination in the second selected race of the pool. Holders of winning tickets for the second selected race shall exchange their tickets up to the time of the start of the third selected race of the pool for a ticket bearing a combination in the third selected race of the pool. All persons making bets on the first selected race shall pay the full amount of the betting unit and no further payment shall be made in respect of the tickets for the second and third selected races.

4 Calculation of dividend.

4. The dividend shall be calculated by dividing the net pool by the number of units on the winning combination or combinations of the third selected race.

5 Dead-Heat.

5.—(a) In the event of a dead-heat for first place in any of the selected races, such dead-heating greyhounds shall be deemed the winning combination and all tickets bearing a combination of the greyhounds dead-heating shall be exchangeable for the next selected race or qualify for a dividend as the case may be.

(b) in the event of a dead-heat in any of the selected races for second place all tickets bearing, in either order, thenumber of the winning greyhound and any of the greyhounds dead-heating for second place shall be exchangeable for the next selected race or entitled to a dividend as the case may be.

6 No unit on winning combination or combinations.

6. (a) If, after the completion of the first selected race, the winning combination or combinations are unbacked then all tickets issued on the first selected race shall become exchangeable tickets.

(b) If, after the completion of the second selected race, the winning combination or combinations in that race are unbacked then all tickets issued on the second selected race shall become exchangeable tickets.

(c) If, after the completion of the third selected race, the winning combination or combinations in that race are unbacked then holders of tickets on the third selected race shall be entitled to a dividend, calculated by dividing the net pool by the number of units on the winning combination or combinations of the second selected race or the first selected race as the case may be. The resultant dividends shall be paid on presentation of tickets issued for the third selected race or unexchanged winning tickets for the second selected race or the first selected race as the case may be.

(d) If, after the completion of the three selected races, the winning combination or combinations have been unbacked in the three selected races then the holders of tickets bearing a combination of any one of the placed greyhounds with the next greyhound in order of finish in the third selected race shall be entitled to a dividend calculated by dividing the net pool by the number of units on such combinations.

7 Withdrawn greyhounds.

7. If, after the opening of betting in any of the selected races, a greyhound is withdrawn then the tickets issued for that race bearing the number of the withdrawn greyhound shall become exchangeable tickets for that race or refundable tickets at the option of the holder.

8 Numbers of runners in the selected races.

8. (a) In the event of there being less than three runners in the first selected race the pool shall be operated on the second and third selected races. In the event of the pool being operated in this manner bets for the second selected race shall only be made up to the time of the start of that race and all persons making bets on the second selected race shall pay the full amount of the betting unit and no further payment shall be made in respect of the tickets for the third selected race.

(b) In the event of there being less than three runners in the second selected race then winning tickets in the first selected race shall become exchangeable tickets for the third selected race.

(c) In the event of there being less than three runners in the third selected race the dividend shall be calculated by dividing the net pool by the number of winning units on the second selected race.

(d) If, after the opening of betting in the first selected race, a greyhound is withdrawn and if in consequence the number of runners in the race becomes less than three the tickets issued for that race shall become exchangeable tickets for the second selected race or refundable tickets at the option of the holder.

(e) In the event of there being less than three runners in any two of the selected races the pool shall be cancelled.

9 No race.

9. The provisions of Article 8 of these regulations shall apply as may be appropriate in the event of any of the selected races being declared a " no race ".

10 Failure to exchange tickets.

10. (a) Where the pool has been completed and winning tickets in the first or second selected races have not been exchanged, the amount of the stakes for such unexchanged tickets shall be deducted from the pool and shall be refunded on presentation of the tickets.

(b) Where a dividend has been declared on the first selected race, then all winning tickets on the first selected race whether exchanged or not shall qualify for a dividend, calculated by dividing the net pool by the number of units on the winning combination or combinations of the first selected race. The resultant dividend shall be paid on presentation of tickets issued for the second or third selected race or unexchanged winning tickets for the first or second selected race.

(c) Where a dividend has been declared on the second selected race then all winning tickets on the second selected race, whether exchanged or not, shall qualify for a dividend, calculated by dividing the net pool by the number of units on the winning combination or combinations of the second selected race. The resultant dividend shall be paid on presentation of tickets issued for the third selected race or unexchanged winning tickets for the second selected race.

(d) No liability can be accepted by the Operator in the event of the holder of a winning ticket failing, for any reason, to exchange such winning ticket.

11 Only one placed greyhound.

11. In the event of there being only one placed greyhound in any of the selected races, then tickets including the number of such placed greyhound shall be exchangeable for the next selected race or shall qualify for a dividend as the case may be.

12 Limitations.

12. Save as otherwise provided in these regulations, the provisions of the Greyhound Race Track (Totalisator) (Operating) Regulations, 1960 (No. 65 of 1960) shall apply in respect of the operation of the quinella treble forecast pool.

13 Citation and commencement.

13.—(1) These regulations may be cited as the Greyhound Race Track (Totalisator) (Quinella Treble Forecast) Regulations, 1964.

(2) These regulations shall come into operation on the first day of April, 1964.
