CHILDREN ACT, 1941 (SECTION 21) REGULATIONS 1964.

I, PÁDRAIG Ó HIRIGHILE, Minister for Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 21 of the Children Act, 1941 (No. 12 of 1941), as adapted by the Health (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1947 ( S. R. & O. No. 58 of 1947 ), hereby, with the consent of the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Health, make the following regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Children Act, 1941 (Section 21) Regulations, 1964.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1964.

3. The payments to be made by local authorities to the managers of certified schools for the maintenance of such children and youthful offenders as such local authorities are liable to maintain under section 74 of the Children Act, 1908, as amended by section 20 of the Children Act, 1941 (No. 12 of 1941), shall be as follows :—

(a) in the case of industrial schools, twenty-seven shillings and sixpence per week for each child ;

(b) in the case of reformatory schools, an amount not exceeding twenty-nine shillings per week and not less than twenty-eight shillings per week for each youthful offender.

4. The Children Act, 1941 (Section 21) Regulations, 1958 ( S.I. No. 12 of 1958 ), are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These regulations prescribe the payments to be made from 1st July, 1964, by local authorities to the managers of certified schools for the maintenance of children and youthful offenders committed to their schools.
