COMMITTEES OF AGRICULTURE (SALARIES OF OFFICERS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1963.

I, PATRICK SMITH, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (1) of section 27 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), and section 6 of the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 17 of 1958), hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1963.

(2) The Principal Regulations and these Regulations may be cited together as the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1962 and 1963.

(3) These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation immediately after the coming into operation of the Principal Regulations.

2. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1962 ( S.I. No. 185 of 1962 ).

3. Paragraph 4 of the Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition of the following subparagraphs:

"(4) Where—

(a) a person who is appointed to the office of Chief Agricultural Officer after the 2nd day of November, 1962, had applied for that office before that day, and

(b) that office had been advertised at the scale specified in paragraph 5 of the Schedule to the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1961 ( S.I. No. 95 of 1961 ),

his initial salary shall not be lower than the salary which he would have been allowed on that scale if these Regulations had not been made and if that salary were increased by £220.

(5) Where in a case in which an officer is appointed to the office of Chief Agricultural Officer or Deputy Chief Agricultural Officer—

(a) subparagraph (2) or subparagraph (5) of paragraph 3 of this Schedule applies, and

(b) the officer, if he had not been appointed to that office, would, on the 1st day of April next following his appointment to that office, have been eligible for the grant of an increment in respect of the office which he would have continued to hold but for his said appointment,

any increment falling to be granted to him on that 1st day of April shall not be less than the said increment for the grant of which he would have been eligible."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations make some minor amendments in the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1962, which prescribe scales of salary for Officers of Committees of Agriculture holding office in a pensionable capacity.
