ANIMAL REMEDIES (CONTROL OF OESTROGENIC SUBSTANCES) REGULATIONS, 1962.

I, PATRICK SMITH, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 7 of the Animal Remedies Act, 1956 (No. 41 of 1956), and after consultation with the Animal Remedies Consultative Committee and the Minister for Health, hereby make the following regulations:—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Animal Remedies (Control of Oestrogenic Substances) Regulations, 1962.

(2) These Regulations shall come into force on the 2nd day of June, 1962.

2. In these Regulations " animal remedy to which these Regulations apply " means any animal remedy which is—

(a) a substance specified in the Schedule to these Regulations, or

(b) an oestrogenic substance or preparation, whether prepared from animal tissues, animal fluids or plant tissue or prepared synthetically, which, on being administered to animals or incorporated in animal feeding stuffs, produces oestrogenic effects.

3. The manufacture, preparation, packing or sale of any animal remedy to which these Regulations apply is hereby prohibited save under licence of the Minister.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations provide for the control of the manufacture, preparation, packing or sale of oestrogenic substances (i.e., hormones) for the treatment of animals.
