IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (No. 88) (ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES) ORDER, 1960.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (No. 88) (Electrical Accessories) Order, 1960.

2. The duty imposed by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 344) (Electrical Accessories) Order, 1955 ( S.I. No. 35 of 1955 ), shall, as respects articles imported on or after the 22nd day of March, 1960, be varied by—

(I) the insertion in subparagraph (a) of paragraph 3 of that Order after clause (i) of the following clauses:

"(ia) rocker dolly switches of which the greatest cross-sectional dimension is not less than one inch, excluding switches which are linked together mechanically or which are designed to be so linked together and also excluding switches fitted with metal plates,"

(II) the deletion in clause (iv) of the said subparagraph (a) of "excluding sockets which incorporate a switch and also",

(III) the insertion in the said subparagraph (a) after the said clause (iv) of the following clauses, namely:

"(iva) bayonet lampholder plugs,

(ivb) inlet plugs suitable for use with electric smoothing irons or electric kettles,",

(IV) the substitution in clause (vb) (inserted by the Imposition of Duties (No. 21) (Electrical Accessories) Order, 1958 ( S.I. No. 57 of 1958 )) of the said subparagraph (a) of "six terminals" for "four terminals", and

(V) the insertion in subparagraph (b) of the said paragraph 3 after clause (iiia) (inserted by the said Imposition of Duties (No. 21) (Electrical Accessories) Order, 1958)) of the following clause:

"(iiib) rocker dolly switches,".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order extends the scope of the customs duty of 75% (full) 50% (preferential—U.K. and Canada) ad valorem on certain electrical accessories.
