EMERGENCY POWERS (COMPENSATION FOR PERSONAL INJURIES) (CIVILIANS) SCHEME, 1942 (FOURTH AMENDMENT) SCHEME, 1960.

I, SÉAMAS Ó RIAIN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 of the Continuation of Compensation Schemes Act, 1946 (No. 19 of 1946), as amended by section 2 of the Continuation of Compensation Schemes Act, 1946 (Amendment) Act, 1949 (No. 15 of 1949), hereby make the following Scheme:

1. This Scheme may be cited as the Emergency Powers (Compensation for Personal Injuries) (Civilians) Scheme, 1942 (Fourth Amendment) Scheme, 1960.

2. This Scheme shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1959.

3. The Emergency Powers (Compensation for Personal Injuries) (Civilians) Scheme, 1942 (S.R. & O., No. 229 of 1942), is hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution in paragraphs (1) and (2) of Article 10 of "ninety shillings" for "fifty shillings" (inserted by the Emergency Powers (Compensation for Personal Injuries) (Civilians) Scheme, 1942 (Third Amendment) Scheme, 1949 ( S.I. No. 222 of 1949 )),

(b) the deletion of Article 11,

(c) the substitution of "eight shillings" for "five shillings", "thirty-five shillings" for "eighteen shillings" and "twenty-five shillings" for "twelve shillings and sixpence" in paragraph (1) of Article 24,

(d) the substitution of "thirty-five shillings" for "eighteen shillings" in paragraph (2) of the said Article 24,

(e) the substitution of "eight shillings" for "five shillings" and "twelve shillings and sixpence" for "seven shillings and sixpence" in paragraph (3) of the said Article 24,

(f) the substitution of "twelve shillings and sixpence" for "seven shillings and sixpence" in paragraph (4) of the said Article 24,

(g) the substitution of "eight shillings" for "five shillings" and "twelve shillings and sixpence" for "seven shillings and sixpence" in paragraph (5) of the said Article 24,

(h) the substitution of "twelve shillings and sixpence" for "seven shillings and sixpence" in paragraph (6) (inserted by the Emergency Powers (Compensation for Personal Injuries) (Civilians) Scheme, 1942 (First Amendment) Scheme, 1943 (S.R. & O., No. 7 of 1943)) of the said Article 24,

(i) the substitution of "nine hundred pounds" for "six hundred pounds" in paragraph (1) of Article 26, and

(j) the substitution of "fifty pounds" for "twenty-five pounds" in paragraph (2) of Article 27.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This scheme, made by the Minister for Finance, provides for increases in the rates of compensation payable to civilians in respect of injuries received as a result of air-raids during the war.
