S.I. No. 108 of 1960.

ELECTIONS ORDER, 1960.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Elections Act, 1960 (No. 14 of 1960) and section 41 of the Electoral Act, 1923 (No. 12 of 1923) as amended by section 2 of the Electoral (Amendment) Act, 1946 (No. 31 of 1946) hereby declares and orders as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Elections Order, 1960.

2. Part II of the Elections Act, 1960 is hereby declared to be in operation.

3. In relation to the election of a member of Dáil Éireann to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Joseph Hughes—

(a) the 30th day of May, 1960 shall be deemed to be the day of receipt of the writ by the returning officer,

(b) the 23rd day of June, 1960 shall be the day for polling, and

(c) the poll shall be kept open until the hour of 9.30 o'clock p.m.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order brings into operation Part II of the Elections Act, 1960 , which contains provisions in relation to the polls at the forthcoming bye-election in the constituency of Carlow-Kilkenny and the local elections in the area. The order also fixes the day to be deemed the day of receipt of the writ by the returning officer and the day for polling and directs that the poll shall be kept open until 9.30 p.m.
