IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (No. 54) (FURNISHING FABRICS) ORDER, 1959.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (No. 54) (Furnishing Fabrics) Order, 1959.

2. The duty of customs imposed by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 382) (Furnishing Fabrics) Order, 1956 ( S.I. No. 197 of 1956 ), is hereby varied, as respects articles imported on or after the 20th day of January, 1959, by the substitution in paragraph 3 of " twelve inches " for " eighteen inches ".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order amends the scope of the duty of 50% (full) 33 1/3% (preferential) applicable to furnishing fabrics which are not less than 18" in width to include furnishing fabrics which are not less than 12" in width.
