IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (No. 21) (ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES) ORDER, 1958.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (No. 21) (Electrical Accessories) Order, 1958.

2. Paragraph 3 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 344) (Electrical Accessories) Order, 1955 ( S.I. No. 35 of 1955 ), shall, as respects articles imported on or after the 7th day of March, 1958, have effect as if—

(i) in subparagraph (a)—

(I) In clause (i) " and also excluding switches fitted with metal plates " were inserted after " so linked together ",

(II) clause (ii) were deleted and the following clause were substituted therefor :

" (ii) plates and covers for switches or sockets,",

(III) in clause (iv) " and also excluding sockets fitted with metal plates " were inserted after " switch ",

(IV) in clause (v) " excluding plugs with more than two contact pins, or which incorporate a switch " were deleted and " excluding plugs which incorporate a switch " were substituted therefor,

(V) the following clauses were inserted after clause (v) :

" (va) protective shields for lampholders.

(vb) junction boxes of which the greatest diameter does not exceed four inches and which do not incorporate more than four terminals,

(vc) socket-outlet adaptors to which may be fitted two or three plugs,", and

(VI) clause (vii) were deleted and the following clause were substituted therefor :

" (vii) bayonet lampholders,", and

(ii) in subparagraph (b) the following clause were inserted after clause (iii) :

" (iiia) junction boxes,".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order extends the scope of the customs duty of 75% (full), 50% (preferential—U.K. and Canada) ad valorem on certain electrical accessories.
