PENSIONS (INCREASE) (LIMERICK HARBOUR COMMISSIONERS) REGULATIONS, 1957.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 6 of the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1956 (No. 44 of 1956), hereby make the following regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Pensions (Increase) (Limerick Harbour Commissioners) Regulations, 1957.

2. In these Regulations—

" the Act " means the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1956 (No. 44 of 1956) ;

" the appropriate sum " has the meaning given to it in the Act ;

" pension " means a pension or allowance specified in Part IV of the Schedule to the Act.

3. The increase in pension which may be granted by the Limerick Harbour Commissioners under the Act shall not exceed whichever of the following is the less—

(a) the appropriate sum, or

(b) the amount that would bring the pension up to what it would have been if it were computed by reference to an annual average amount of pensionable remuneration determined as if the rate of annual salary or weekly pay which first commenced to be paid on the 1st day of November, 1952, to an officer or servant of equivalent status had been in effect in the case of the officer or servant concerned for the whole of the three years immediately preceding his retirement.

Explanatory Note.

These Regulations authorise Limerick Harbour Commissioners to increase certain superannuation allowances payable by them.
