EMERGENCY IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (No. 371) (CATGUT) ORDER, 1956.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties Act, 1932 (No. 16 of 1932), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, hereby order as follows :—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 371) (Catgut) Order, 1956.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 30th day of March, 1956.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 186) Order, 1939 ( S. R. & O. No. 140 of 1939 ), (which imposes a duty of customs on catgut and certain substitutes therefor) is hereby revoked.

4. The duty of customs imposed by section 16 of the Finance Act, 1932 (No. 20 of 1932), on accessories and component parts of musical instruments shall not be charged or levied on catgut, that is to say, cord made from the dried intestines of any animal.
