COUNTY COUNCILS AND MENTAL HOSPITAL BOARDS (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS) ORDER, 1956.

The Minister for Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4 and section 67 of the Local Government Act, 1946 (No. 24 of 1946) hereby orders as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the County Councils and Mental Hospital Boards (Allowances to Members) Order, 1956.

2. Where a resolution under sub-paragraph (ii) of the second paragraph (added by section 67 of the Local Government Act, 1955 ) of sub-section (7) of section 67 of the Local Government Act, 1946 , is in force in relation to a county council or a joint mental hospital board the amount of the allowance which the council or board shall pay to a member who—

(a) attended a meeting of the council or board at a place less than five miles by any route from his official residence, and

(b) was obliged by reason of such attendance to remain away from his home for a continuous period of not less than three hours,

shall be an amount not exceeding thirteen shillings and sixpence.
