SEED PRODUCTION (SUGAR BEET) AREA AND PLANT PROHIBITION ORDER, 1955.

I, JAMES M. DILLON, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 16 of the Seed Production Act, 1955 (No. 14 of 1955), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Seed Production (Sugar Beet) Area and Plant Prohibition Order, 1955.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 28th day of October, 1955.

2. In this Order " permit " means a permit granted under section 20 of the Seed Production Act, 1955 .

3. The area specified in the Schedule to this Order shall be a seed production area for seeds of sugar beet.

4. No person shall, save under and in accordance with a permit, grow in the said seed production area during any year—

(a) mangel plants,

(b) sugar mangel plants, or

(c) fodder beet plants,

which are the produce of seeds sown in the immediately preceding year or in any earlier year.

SCHEDULE

The area comprising :—

(a) that part of the State which lies within a boundary commencing at the sea coast at Kilconly Point in the County of Kerry and thence along the sea coast and the left bank of the River Shannon to Carrig Bridge and across the mouth of Ballylongford Creek to Reenturk Point ; thence along the left bank of the River Shannon to Tomdeely Point and across the mouth of the Deel River to Illaunlea ; thence along the left bank of the River Shannon to Rinekirk Point and across the mouth of the River Maigue to Carrigclogher Point ; thence along the left bank of theRiver Shannon to the point at which the boundary of the County Borough of Limerick is reached ; and thence along the boundary of the County Borough of Limerick in a northerly, easterly and southerly direction to the point at which the said boundary meets the main road from the County Borough of Limerick to Annacotty; and thence along the said main road via Annacotty, Bunkey Bridge, Newport, Rear Cross, Anglesey Bridge, Milestone, Cooleenduff Bridge and Ballycahill to the point at which that road meets the boundary of the Urban District of Thurles ; and thence along the boundary of the Urban District of Thurles in a northerly, easterly, southerly and westerly direction to the point at which that boundary meets the main road from Thurles to Horse-and-Jockey ; and thence along the said main road via Horse-and-Jockey, Ballinure, Knockbrit, Fethard, Garrinch Bridge and Lisronagh to the point at which that road meets the boundary of the Urban District of Clonmel ; and thence along the boundary of the Urban District of Clonmel in an easterly, southerly and westerly direction to the point at which that boundary meets the main road from Clonmel to Kilmacomma Cross Roads ; and thence along the said main road via Kilmacomma Cross Roads, Kilmanahan, Ballymacarbry, Halfway House, Knockaraha Bridge, Boolavonteen, Hickey's Cross Roads, Bery's Cross Roads, Knockanpower Bridge and Garryduff Cross Roads to the point at which that road meets the boundary of the Urban District of Dungarvan ; and thence along the boundary of the Urban District of Dungarvan in a southerly and easterly direction to the point at which that boundary reaches the sea coast ; and thence along the sea coast in a westerly and northerly direction to the commencing point ; and

(b) all islands adjacent to the portion of the sea coast referred to in the foregoing paragraph ; and

(c) all islands in the administrative counties of Kerry and Limerick which lie in the River Shannon between the boundary of the County Borough of Limerick and the mouth of the said river.
