GRAND CANAL (BLACKWOOD BRANCH) (ABANDONMENT) WARRANT, 1955.

WHEREAS Córas Iompair Éireann have applied to the Minister for Industry and Commerce, pursuant to section 45 of the Railway and Canal Traffic Act, 1888, for authority to abandon, as an unnecessary canal, the Blackwood Branch of the Grand Canal in the County of Kildare :

AND WHEREAS it appears to the Minister that that part of the canal was at the time of making the application unnecessary for the purposes of public navigation :

AND WHEREAS the Minister is satisfied that the requirements of the said Act have been complied with by the applicants :

NOW, I, WILLIAM NORTON, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred by the Railway and Canal Traffic Act, 1888, and of every other power enabling me in this behalf, do by this Warrant order as follows :

1. This Warrant may be cited as the Grand Canal (Blackwood Branch) (Abandonment) Warrant, 1955.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937) applies to this Warrant.

3. Córas Iompair Éireann are hereby authorised to abandon that part of the Grand Canal belonging to them known as the Blackwood Branch and situate in the County of Kildare.
