FOOD STANDARDS (ICE-CREAM) REGULATIONS, 1952.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 56 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947), hereby makes the following Regulations prescribing a standard for the composition of ice-cream:—

1. In these Regulations—

"ice-cream" does not include water ices or ice-lollies but includes any other article, under whatever description it is sold, which is so similar to ice-cream as to constitute a substitute therefor;

"sugar" means cane sugar, beet sugar or any other form of sucrose.

2. Ice-cream shall contain—

(a) not less than five per cent. by weight of milk-fat;

(b) not less than nine per cent. by weight of milk solids (other than milk fat); and

(c) not less than ten per cent. by weight of sugar.

3. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1952.

4. These Regulations may be cited as the Food Standards (Ice-cream) Regulations, 1952.
