STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1947. No. 399.

DRAPERY, FOOTWEAR AND HARDWARE SHOPS (HOURS OF TRADING ON WEEK-DAYS) (ATHLONE URBAN DISTRICT) ORDER, 1947.

The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 25 of the Shops (Hours of Trading) Act, 1938 (No. 3 of 1938), and after compliance with subsection (1) of section 4 of the said Act, hereby orders as follows :—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Drapery, Footwear and Hardware Shops (Hours of Trading on Weekdays) (Athlone Urban District) Order, 1947.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 15th day of December, 1947.

2. The Urban District of Athlone shall be a trading area for the purposes of this Order.

3. In this Order the expression " shop to which this Order applies " means any shop, situate in the trading area for the purposes of this Order, in which there is carried on the business of selling drapery, footwear or hardware, whether any other business is or is not carried on in the shop.

4. The proprietor of a shop to which this Order applies shall not open or keep open the shop for the serving of customers—

(a) on any of the weekdays of the week immediately preceding Christmas Day, before the hour of 9 a.m. or, unless such day is a Saturday, after the hour of 7 p.m.,

(b) on any other weekday (not being a Saturday), before the hour of 9 a.m. or after the hour of 6 p.m.,

(c) on any Saturday, before the hour of 9 a.m. or after the hour of 8 p.m.
