BARBERS' SHOPS (HOURS OF TRADING ON WEEK-DAYS) (ATHLONE URBAN DISTRICT) ORDER, 1946.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 25 of the Shops (Hours of Trading) Act, 1938 (No. 3 of 1938) and after due compliance with subsection (1) of section 4 of the said Act, hereby order as follows:—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Barbers' Shops (Hours of Trading on Week-days) (Athlone Urban District) Order, 1946.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1946.

2. In this Order, the expression " barbers' shop " means any shop in which the business of a barber or hairdresser is carried on.

3. The urban district of Athlone shall be a trading area for the purposes of this Order and the expression " the trading area " means in this Order the said urban district.

4. It shall not be lawful for the proprietor of any barber shop in the trading area to open such shop for the serving of customers—

(a) before the hour of 9 a.m. or after the hour of 10 p.m. on any week-day being one of the following :—

Saturday,

the 16th day of March,

the six week-days immediately preceding Christmas day;

(b) before the hour of 9 a.m. or after the hour of 8 p.m. on any week-day (other than Friday or Saturday) being one of the following :—

the 5th day of January,

the 28th day of June,

the 14th day of August,

the 7th day of December,

the 31st day of December,

the eve of the Feast of Corpus Christi,

the eve of Ascension Thursday ;

(c) before the hour of 9 a.m. or after the hour of 7 p.m. on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, not being a day mentioned in paragraph (a) or paragraph (b) of this Article ;

(d) before the hour of 9 a.m. or after the hour of 8.30 p.m. on any Friday, not being a day mentioned in paragraph (a) of this Article.
