STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1942. No. 156.

TRADE UNION (INSPECTION OF REGISTER OF MEMBERS) REGULATIONS, 1942.

The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Trade Union Act, 1941 (No. 22 of 1941) hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Trade Union (Inspection of Register of Members) Regulations, 1942.

2. —(1) The keeping by a trade union of a register of members open for inspection pursuant to paragraph (c) of sub-section (1) of section 12 of the Trade Union Act, 1941 (No. 22 of 1941), or paragraph (d) of sub-section (1) of section 13 of that Act shall be in accordance with the following provisions :—

(a) in the case of an inspection by an officer of the Minister for Industry and Commerce authorised by that Minister in writing to inspect the register, the register shall be available on all week-days at any time while the office where it is kept is open,

(b) in the case of any other inspection, the register shall be available between the hours of 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. on all week-days except Saturdays, provided that the person making the inspection gives at least two clear days' notice in writing of his intention to make the inspection.

(2) In this Article the word " week-day " does not include any—

(a) 1st day of January,

(b) 6th day of January,

(c) 17th day of March,

(d) 18th day of March in a year in which the 17th day of March falls on a Sunday,

(e) Easter Monday,

(f) Ascension Thursday,

(g) Whit Monday,

(h) Feast of Corpus Christi,

(i) 29th day of June,

(j) first Monday in August,

(k) 15th day of August,

(l) 8th day of December,

(m) 25th day of December,

(n) 26th day of December,

(o) 27th day of December in a year in which the 25th or 26th day of December falls on a Sunday.

(p) bank holiday appointed under the Public Holidays Act, 1924 (No. 56 of 1924), instead of a day mentioned in any of the foregoing paragraphs.
