FINANCE ACT, 1919 (PRESCRIBED PROPORTION OF VALUE OF ARTIFICIAL SILK) REGULATIONS, 1938.

The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 8 of the Finance Act, 1919, as adapted by or under subsequent enactments, and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby makes the following regulations :

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Finance Act, 1919 (Prescribed Proportion of Value of Artificial Silk) Regulations, 1938.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 2nd day of January, 1939.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. In these Regulations the expression " the Principal Regulations " means the regulations made on the 6th day of August, 1919, under section 8 of the Finance Act, 1919, as amended by the Regulations made on the 13th day of June, 1921, under the said section.

4. For the purposes of section 8 of the Finance Act, 1919, as applied by subsection (3) of section 3 of the Finance (Agreement with United Kingdom) Act, 1938 (No. 12 of 1938), the Principal Regulations shall, in relation to articles chargeable with the duty imposed by subsection (2) of the said section 3, be construed and have effect as if in paragraph (1) thereof the expression " 75 per cent." were substituted for the expression " 25 per cent."
