INLAND POST AMENDMENT (No 31) WARRANT, 1936

THE INLAND POST AMENDMENT (No. 31) WARRANT, 1936.

DATED: 29TH JUNE, 1936.

I, the Minister for Finance of the Irish Free State in exercise of all powers now vested in me by the Post Office Acts, 1908 to 1920, the Adaptation of Enactments Act, 1922 , the Ministers and Secretaries Act, 1924 , and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf do, by this Warrant under my hand, made on the representation of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs (testified by his signing the same), order, direct and declare as follows:—

1. This Warrant shall be read as one with the Inland Post Warrant, 1903 (hereinafter called "the Principal Warrant") and all Warrants amending the same.

2. (i) On and from the date on which this Warrant comes into operation there shall be charged and paid on parcels posted in the Irish Free State for delivery in the Irish Free State the following rates of postage, that is to say:—

On every parcel not exceeding two pounds in weight, sixpence.

On every parcel exceeding two pounds and not exceeding three pounds, sevenpence;

On every parcel exceeding three pounds and not exceeding four pounds, eightpence;

On every parcel exceeding four pounds and not exceeding five pounds, ninepence;

On every parcel exceeding five pounds and not exceeding six pounds, tenpence;

On every parcel exceeding six pounds and not exceeding seven pounds, elevenpence;

On every parcel exceeding seven pounds and not exceeding eleven pounds, one shilling.

(ii) There shall be charged and paid on parcels posted in the Irish Free State for delivery in Northern Ireland, Great Britain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man the following rates of postage, that is to say:—

On every parcel not exceeding two pounds in weight, sixpence.

On every parcel exceeding two pounds and not exceeding five pounds, ninepence;

On every parcel exceeding five pounds and not exceeding eight pounds, one shilling;

On every parcel exceeding eight pounds and not exceeding eleven pounds, one shilling and three pence.

3. On and from the date on which this Warrant comes into operation the following Regulation shall be substituted for Regulation 51 (1)(b) of the Principal Warrant as amended by the Inland Post Amendment (No. 19) Warrant, 1919, namely—

(b) If the place is situate at a distance of more than one mile from such express delivery office aforesaid an express fee of sixpence for the first mile and threepence for every mile (or for any part of an uncompleted mile) beyond the first mile.

4. On and from the date on which this Warrant comes into operation the Warrants mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be repealed to the extent mentioned in the third column of such schedule. Provided that—

(i) Where any provision of any Warrant not comprised in the said Schedule has been repealed by any Warrant hereby repealed, such repeal shall not be affected by the repeal effected by this Warrant.

(ii) The repeals effected by this Warrant shall not affect—

(a) anything done or suffered before this Warrant comes into operation; or

(b) any legal proceeding commenced before this Warrant comes into operation in pursuance of any Warrant or provision of any Warrant hereby repealed, and any such legal proceeding may be carried on and completed as if this Warrant had not been made.

5. This Warrant may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 31) Warrant, 1936.

6. This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1936.
