STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1934. No. 348.

CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 2, FIRST PERIOD, ADDITIONAL QUOTA) ORDER, 1934.

WHEREAS it is enacted by subsection (4) of section 6 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), that whenever the Executive Council has, by order made under that section, appointed a quota in respect of any quota period, the Executive Council may, if they so think fit, by order made before the expiration of such quota period increase such quota by such amount (in that Act referred to as an additional quota) as they think proper :

AND WHEREAS by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 2, First Period) Order, 1934 (Statutory Rules and Orders No. 240 of 1934), made under the said section 6, the Executive Council appointed the period beginning on the 1st day of October, 1934, and ending on the 31st day of December, 1934, to be the first quota period under the Control of Imports (Quota No. 2) Order, 1934 (Statutory Rules and Orders No. 231 of 1934), and appointed a total amounting to one hundred and sixty thousand pneumatic tyres (being pneumatic tyres of one or more of the descriptions specified in the Schedule to the last mentioned Order) to be the quota in respect of the said first quota period :

NOW, the Executive Council, in exercise of the power conferred on them by subsection (4) of section 6 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited for all purposes as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 2, First Period, Additional Quota) Order, 1934.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. The quota appointed by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 2, First Period) Order, 1934 (Statutory Rules and Orders No. 240 of 1934), in respect of the first quota period appointed by that Order is hereby increased by fifty thousand pneumatic tyres (being pneumatic tyres of one or more of the descriptions specified in the Schedule to the Control of Imports (Quota No. 2) Order, 1934 (Statutory Rules and Orders No. 231 of 1934), to the intent that the said fifty thousand pneumatic tyres shall be an additional quota in respect of the said first quota period and the total quota in respect of the said first quota period shall be two hundred and ten thousand pneumatic tyres (being pneumatic tyres of one or more of the descriptions specified in the said Schedule to the last-mentioned Order).
