THE GREAT SOUTHERN RAILWAYS COMPANY MODIFICATION OF STANDARD CHARGES.

Dated 18th July, 1930.

IN THE COURT OF THE RAILWAY TRIBUNAL RAILWAYS ACT, 1924 .

WHEREAS the Great Southern Railways Company have applied for the modification of Part VII. of the Schedule of Standard Charges.

AND WHEREAS we have caused notice of the said Application to be duly published and prescribed the time and manner in which any objection thereto might be lodged.

AND WHEREAS we have heard the said Application in open Court.

AND WHEREAS the said Company have proved to our satisfaction that Part VII. of the Schedule of Standard Charges ought to be modified.

NOW WE, THE RAILWAY TRIBUNAL, in pursuance of the powers vested in Us under Section 33 of the Railways Act, 1924 , do hereby order that Part VII. of the Schedule of Standard Charges settled by Us and published as Statutory Rule and Order, 1930, No. 5, be modified in accordance with the Schedule hereto.

And WE fix the First day of July, 1930, as the date as and from which the same shall be effective.

And WE do prescribe that this Order shall be read as an addition to Statutory Rule and Order, 1930, No. 5.

SCHEDULE.

For pages 21, 22, 23, and 24, of S. R. & O. 1930 No. 5., substitute the following:—

PART VII.

For each Passenger carried in a First Class Carriage

2¼d. per mile.

1½d. per mile.

Minimum Charge as for one mile. Fractions of a mile to be charged as one mile.

Fractions of one penny to be charged as one penny.

Children under three years of age free when accompanied by a fare-paying passenger. Children of three years and under fourteen years of age, half-price.

Except as hereafter stated, every passenger carried at the above standard fares may take with him the following amounts of ordinary luggage, not being merchandise or other articles carried for hire or profit, without any charge being made for the carriage :

Children who are carried at half the adult fares may take one-half of the allowance specified above.

Note.—The above Scale of Charges includes only the provision by the Railway Company of the services and accommodation usually provided for passengers carried in ordinary first or third class carriages, and does not include the provision of special services or accommodation such as, for example, special trains, saloons, sleeping berths, reservation of particular seats, etc.

The Railway Company make special charges for special services or accommodation, particulars of which may be obtained on application to them, and any question as to the reasonableness of such charges may be submitted to the Railway Tribunal for determination.

For period of six months the charges to be 2½ per cent. over ½ of the twelve months' rate.

For period of three months the charges to be 5 per cent. over ¼ of the twelve months' rate.

For period of one month the charges to be 15 per cent. over 1/12th of the twelve months. rate.

Passengers attending school, College, or University will be charged as follows :—

Not exceeding 15 years of age at one-rhird rate. Exceeding 15 and not exceeding 18 years of age, at one-half rate.

Exceeding 18 and not exceeding 21 years of age at two-thirds rate.

Minimum charge as for one mile. Fractions of a mile to be charged as one mile.

Fractions of 1s. to be treated as 1s. in the rates for 12 Months' Tickets. For Tickets for shorter periods, fractions of 3d. to be treated as 3d.

Every Passenger carried at the Full Season Ticket Rates may take the following amounts of ordinary luggage, not being Merchandise or other articles carried for hire or profit, without any charge being made for the carriage :—

Weekly Season Tickets will be issued on Mondays only, and will be available to following Saturday night. No reduction will be made in the weekly rates for persons attending School, College or University.

Note.—The above Scale of Charges includes only the provision by the Railway Company of the services and accommodation usually provided for passengers carried in ordinary first or third class carriages, and does not include the provision of special services or accommodation, such as, for example, special trains, saloons, sleeping berths, reservation of particular seats, etc.

The Railway Company make special charges for special services or accommodation, particulars of which may be obtained on application to them, and any questions as to the reasonableness of such charges may be submitted to the Railway Tribunal for determination.

SCALE OF CHARGES FOR TRADERS' SEASON TICKETS ISSUED SUBJECT TO THE COMPANY'S REGULATIONS APPLICABLE THERETO.

Charges to be 50 per cent. below the corresponding charges for Ordinary Season Tickets.

Minimum charge as for twenty-five miles.

Fractions of a mile to be charged as one mile.

Fractions of one shilling to be charged as one shilling.

Every passenger carried at the above fares may take with him the following amounts of ordinary luggage, not being merchandise or other articles carried for hire or profit, without any charge being made for the carriage :—
