DAIRY PRODUCE ACT, 1924 (REGULATIONS UNDER PART III) AMENDMENT ORDER, 1928.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 27 of the Dairy Produce Act, 1924 (No. 58 of 1924), that the Minister for Lands and Agriculture may by Order make regulations in regard to (amongst others) the following matters, that is to say, the method and manner in all or any respect of packing butter, including the materials and packages to be used for such packing.

AND WHEREAS in exercise of the powers conferred by (amongst other provisions) sub-section (1) of section 27 of the said Act an Order entitled the Dairy Produce Act, 1924 (Regulations under Part III) Order No. 1, 1925, was made by the said Minister on the 6th day of October, 1925.

AND WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the said Order in the manner hereinafter appearing.

NOW I, PATRICK HOGAN, Minister for Lands and Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sub-section (1) of section 27 of the Dairy Produce Act, 1924 (No. 58 of 1924), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do by this Order make the following regulations, that is to say:—

1. These regulations may be cited as the Dairy Produce Act 1924 (Regulations under Part III) Amendment Order, 1928.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of these regulations in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. In these regulations the expression "the Principal Order" means the Dairy Produce Act, 1924 (Regulations under Part III) Order No. 1, 1925.

4. The part of the First Schedule to the Principal Order headed "III Specification for Standard 56 LB. Pyramid Butter Box" is hereby amended as follows:—

( a ) by the deletion of the following words:

"TIMBER.

Well seasoned wood as free as possible from odour, resin and knots, planed smooth, and with edges either planed or cut with a fine saw."

now contained therein and the insertion in lieu of the words so deleted of the following words:

"TIMBER.

Thoroughly well seasoned white wood, free from blue-wood, wane, feather, discoloration, in-bark, resin (except a slight trace thereof on one side of the timber) and large, loose or dead knots, and planed on both sides with edges smoothly sawn.

Any knot the superficial area of which exceeds the area of a circle having a diameter of 1¼ inches shall for the purpose of this provision be deemed a large knot."

and

( b ) by the deletion in the section thereof headed "Nails" of the figures "12" and "8" now contained therein, and the insertion in lieu of the figures so deleted of the figures "10" and "10" respectively.

5. These regulations shall be construed as one with the Principal Order, and the Principal Order and these regulations may be cited together as the Dairy Produce Act, 1924 (Regulations under Part III) Orders 1925 and 1928.
