S.I. No. 131/2024 - Roads Act 1993 (Classification of Regional Roads) (Amendment) Order 2024


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 9th April, 2024.

I, EAMON RYAN, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 8 and 10 (1)(b) of the Roads Act 1993 (No. 14 of 1993), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Roads Act 1993 (Classification of Regional Roads) (Amendment) Order 2024.

2. The Roads Act 1993 (Classification of Regional Roads) Order 2012 ( S.I. No. 54 of 2012 ) is amended in the Schedule –

(a) by the substitution of the following for the matter in column (2) opposite the mention of the regional road R428 in column (1):

Stradbally, County Laois – Athy, County Kildare

Between its junction with N80 at The Green Stradbally in the county of Laois and its junction with N78 at Bennetsbridge, Athy in the county of Kildare via Ballykilcavan in the county of Laois: Blackford Bridge at the boundary between the county of Laois and the county of Kildare: Castlemitchell; Woodstock Street, William Street and Upper William Street at Athy in the county of Kildare.”,

(b) by the substitution of the following for the matter in column (2) opposite the mention of the regional road R582 in column (1):

Ballydesmond, County Cork – Rathmore, County Kerry - Macroom, County Cork

Between its junction with R577 at Glencollins Lower in the county of Cork and its junction with N72 at Main Street Rathmore in the county of Kerry via Scrahan, Knocknagree and Nohaval Upper in the county of Cork: Nohaval Bridge at the boundary between the county of Cork and the county of Kerry: and Cloonts in the county of Kerry

and

between its junction with N72 at Shinnagh Cross Rathmore in the county of Kerry and its junction with R618 at Gurteenroe Cross Macroom in the county of Cork via Inchibeg Bridge at the boundary between the county of Kerry and the county of Cork: Ballydaly Cross; Killarney Road, Coomlogane Street, Main Street and Church Street at Millstreet; Kilmeedy Bridge, Keel Bridge, Carriganimmy and Gurteenroe; and Milstreet Road at Macroom in the county of Cork.”,

(c) by the substitution of the following for the matter in column (2) opposite the mention of the regional road R584 in column (1):

Macroom – Ballylickey, County Cork

Between its junction with R618 at Sleveen East and its junction with N71 at Ballylickey Bridge via Hartnett’s Cross (and including link to N22 at Coolcour), Teergay, Kilbarry, Inchigeelagh, Graigue Bridge, Béal Átha an Ghaorthaidh, Doirín Dún Aodha, Bearnas Chéim an Fhia, Cappaboy Bridge, Carriganass Bridge and Breeney Beg all in the county of Cork.”,

and

(d) by the substitution of the following for the matter in column (2) opposite the mention of the regional road R618 in column (1):

Carrigohane – Macroom - Ballyvourney, County Cork

Between its junction with N22 at Carrigrohane in the city of Cork and its junction with N22 at An Sliabh Riabhach in the county of Cork via Leemount Cross and Garravagh in the city of Cork: Cannon’s Cross, Dripsey, Coachford, Glashagarriff Bridge, Carrigadrohid, Caum Cross and New Bridge; Cork Street, Railway View, Main Street, The Square, Castle Street, New Street, Gurteenroe Road and Killarney Road at Macroom; Carrigaphooca Bridge, Cúil an Bhuacaigh, Baile Mhic Íre and Baile Bhúirne in the county of Cork.”.

This order amends the Schedule of the Roads Act 1993 (Classification of Regional Roads) Order 2012 ( S.I. No. 54 of 2012 ) to address road classification issues regarding a number of regional roads in County Cork, County Kerry, County Laois and County Kildare.
