S.I. No. 40/2024 - Circular Economy and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022 (Commencement of Certain Provisions) Order 2024


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

I, OSSIAN SMYTH, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Circular Economy and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022 (No. 26 of 2022) and the Environment, Climate and Communications (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order 2023 ( S.I. No. 252 of 2023 ), and there being a code of practice for the purposes of the operation of each of sections 14A (inserted by section 20 of the Circular Economy and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022 (No. 26 of 2022)) and 14B (inserted by section 21 of the Circular Economy and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022) of the Waste Management Act 1996 (No. 10 of 1996) approved under, and laid before each House of the Oireachtas in accordance with, section 14C (inserted by section 22 of the Circular Economy and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022 ) of that Act and there being a code of practice in respect of the operation of section 23A (inserted by section 32 of the Circular Economy and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022 ) of the Litter Pollution Act (No. 12 of 1997) approved under, and laid before each House of the Oireachtas in accordance with, section 23B (inserted by section 33 of the Circular Economy and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022 ) of that Act, hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Circular Economy and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022 (Commencement of Certain Provisions) Order 2024.

2. The 15th day of February 2024 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Circular Economy and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022 (No. 26 of 2022) shall come into operation:

(a) sections 20 and 21;

(b) section 23;

(c) section 32;

(d) sections 34.
