S.I. No. 8/2024 - Employment Permits (Amendment) Regulations 2024

I, NEALE RICHMOND, Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 14 , 29 and 30 (as amended by sections 17 , 29 and 30 of the Employment Permits (Amendment) Act 2014 (No. 26 of 2014)) of the Employment Permits Act 2006 (No. 16 of 2006) (as adapted by the Business, Enterprise and Innovation (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 519 of 2020 )) and the Enterprise, Trade and Employment (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order 2023 ( S.I. No. 14 of 2023 ), hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Employment Permits (Amendment) Regulations 2024.

(2) The Principal Regulations, the Employment Permits (Amendment) Regulations 2018 ( S.I. No. 70 of 2018 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2018 (No. 163 of 2018), the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2018 ( S.I. No. 318 of 2018 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2018 ( S.I. No. 550 of 2018 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) Regulations 2019 ( S.I. No. 138 of 2019 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2019 ( S.I. No. 333 of 2019 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2019 ( S.I. No. 633 of 2019 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) Regulations 2020 ( S.I. No. 156 of 2020 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2020 ( S.I. No. 510 of 2020 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) Regulations 2021 ( S.I. No. 286 of 2021 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2021 ( S.I. No. 559 of 2021 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) Regulations 2022 ( S.I. No. 273 of 2022 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2022 (S.I. 412 of 2022), the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2022 ( S.I. No. 677 of 2022 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) Regulations 2023 ( S.I. No. 346 of 2023 ), the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2023 ( S.I. No. 439 of 2023 ), the Regulations of 2023 and these Regulations may be cited together as the Employment Permits Regulations 2017 to 2024.

2. These Regulations come into operation on 17 January 2024.

3. In these Regulations—

“Principal Regulations” means the Employment Permits Regulations 2017 ( S.I No. 95 of 2017 );

“Regulations of 2023” means the Employment Permits (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2023 ( S.I. No. 680 of 2023 ).

4. Regulation 29 (as amended by Regulation 7 of the Regulations of 2023) of the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a) in paragraph (1), by substituting “The employments” for “Subject to paragraph (2), the employments”, and

(b) by deleting paragraph (2) and consequently re-numbering paragraph (1) as Regulation 29.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend the Employment Permits Regulations 2017 by deleting Regulation 29(2) thereof.

These Regulations may be cited as the Employment Permits (Amendment) Regulations 2024.
