S.I. No. 695/2023 - Student Support Act 2011 (Commencement of Certain Provisions) Order 2023

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

I, SIMON HARRIS, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Student Support Act 2011 (No. 4 of 2011) (as adapted by the Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 451 of 2020 )), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Student Support Act 2011 (Commencement of Certain Provisions) Order 2023.

2. The 12th day of Feburary 2024 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Student Support Act 2011 (No. 4 of 2011) shall come into operation:

(a) subsection (3) of section 8;

(b) subsection (5) of section 16.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The purpose of this commencement order is to bring into operation from the 12th day of Feburary 2024, the remaining provisions of the Student Support Act 2011 ( SI No. 4 of 2011 ), namely section 8(3) and section 16(5).

Section 1 of the Student Support Act 2011 was commenced upon enactment. The Student Support Act 2011 (Commencement of Certain Provisions Order) 2011 ( S.I. No. 303 of 2011 ) commenced ss. 2-7, 8 (other than subsection (3) thereof), 9-11, 12 (other than subsection (1)(e) thereof, 14, 15, 16 (other than subsection (5) thereof), 17, 18, 19 (other than subsection (1)(c) thereof), 20, 21, 23 to 30 and Schedules 1 and 2. The Student Support Act 2011 (Commencement of Certain Provisions) Order 2012 (S.I. 163 of 2012) commenced ss. 12(1)(e), 13, 19(1)(c) and 22.
