S.I. No. 606/2022 - Sick Leave Act 2022 (Commencement) Order 2022

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 2nd December, 2022.

I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Sick Leave Act 2022 (No. 24 of 2022), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Sick Leave Act 2022 (Commencement) Order 2022.

2. In this Order, “Act of 2022” means the Sick Leave Act 2022 (No. 24 of 2022).

3. The 29th day of November 2022 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Act of 2022 shall come into operation:

(a) sections 1 to 3;

(b) section 5(1), only insofar as that subsection relates to the definition of “statutory sick leave day”;

(c) section 6(1);

(d) section 7(1), only insofar as that subsection relates to the definition of “statutory sick leave payment”;

(e) section 7(2).

4. The 1st day of January 2023 is appointed as the day on which the Act of 2022 (insofar as it is not already in operation) shall come into operation.
