S.I. No. 115/2022 - Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (Commencement of Certain Provisions) Order 2022


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 15th March, 2022.

I, STEPHEN DONNELLY, Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (No. 16 of 2020), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (Commencement of Certain Provisions) Order 2022.

2. The 14th day of March 2022 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (No. 16 of 2020) shall come into operation:

(a) paragraphs (b) and (c) of section 84;

(b) paragraph (g)(i) of section 109;

(c) sections 120 and 121;

(d) sections 123 to 130.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order appoints the 14th of March 2022 as the day on which certain sections of the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 come into operation. These sections introduce certain changes to the structure of committees of the Medical Council and have the effect of providing that a medical practitioner has a right of appeal to the High Court where the sanctions of advice, admonishment or censure in writing are imposed by the Medical Council.
