S.I. No. 315/2021 - European Communities (Seed of Fodder Plants) (Amendment) Regulations 2021

I, CHARLIE MCCONALOGUE, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2021/415 of 8 March 2021 ¹ , hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Seed of Fodder Plants) (Amendment) Regulations 2021.

2. The European Communities (Seed of Fodder Plants) Regulations 2002 ( S.I. No. 198 of 2002 ) are amended in Regulation 2(1) by substituting for the definition of “Directive” (as amended by the European Communities (Seed of Fodder Plants) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 ( S.I. No.198 of 2020 )) the following:

3. The European Communities (Seed of Fodder Plants) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 ( S.I. No.198 of 2018 ) are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations give effect to the provisions of Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2021/415 by amending the definitions contained in Directive 66/402/EEC as they relate to the botanic names given to certain varieties of hard fescue and couch grass together with names of wheat, durum wheat, spelt wheat, sorghum and Sudan grass.
