I, EAMON RYAN, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving full effect to Regulation (EC) No. 391/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 20091 as amended by Regulation (EU) 2019/492 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 March 20192 and Regulation (EU) 2019/1243 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 20193 , hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Ship Inspection and Survey Organisations) (Amendment) Regulations 2021. | ||
2. The European Communities (Ship Inspection and Survey Organisations) Regulations 2011 ( S.I. No. 275 of 2011 ) (amended by the European Union (Ship Inspection and Survey Organisations) (Amendment) Regulations 2015 ( S.I. No. 140 of 2015 )) are amended in Regulation 2(1) by the substitution of the following definition for the definition of “EC Regulation”: | ||
“ ‘EC Regulation’ means Regulation (EC) No. 391/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 20091 , as amended by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 1355/2014 of 17 December 20144 , Regulation (EU) 2019/492 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 March 20192 and Regulation (EU) 2019/1243 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 20193 ;”. | ||

The purpose of these Regulations is to amend the definition of “EC Regulation” in the European Communities (Ship Inspection and Survey Organisations) Regulations 2011 ( S.I. No. 275 of 2011 ), as amended, to take into account the adoption on 25 March 2019 of Regulation (EU) 2019/492 amending Regulation (EC) No 391/2009 with regard to the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the Union and the revision of the assessment arrangements for recognised organisations, as well as the adoption of Regulation (EU) 2019/1243 of 20 June 2019. | ||
