Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 23rd March, 2021.

I, STEPHEN DONNELLY, Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (No. 16 of 2020), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order 2021.

2. The 24th day of March 2021 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (No. 16 of 2020) shall come into operation:

(a) sections 25 and 26;

(b) sections 28 to 34;

(c) paragraph (a) of section 36;

(d) paragraph (b) of section 37;

(e) section 38;

(f) sections 41 to 50;

(g) section 186;

(h) section 188.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order appoints the 24th day of March 2021 as the day on which certain provisions of the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (No. 16 of 2020) come into operation. These provisions make a number of amendments to the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 mainly in relation to registration and fitness to practise.

They also make minor technical amendments to the Children and Family Relationships Act 2015 and the Health Act 1953 .
