S.I. No. 432/2020 - European Union (Prevention and Combating of Human Trafficking) (National Rapporteur) Regulations 2020

I, HELEN MCENTEE, Minister for Justice and Equality, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive 2011/36/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 April 20111 on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings and protecting its victims, and replacing Council Framework Decision 2002/629/JHA, hereby make the following regulations:

Citation

1. These regulations may be cited as the European Union (Prevention and Combating of Human Trafficking) (National Rapporteur) Regulations 2020.

Interpretation

2. In these Regulations “Act of 2014” means the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission Act 2014 (No. 25 of 2014).

Amendment of section 10 of Act of 2014

3. Section 10 of the Act of 2014 is amended in subsection (2) by the insertion of the following paragraph after paragraph (i):

“(ia) to be, and to carry out the tasks of, the national rapporteur referred to in Article 19 of Directive 2011/36/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 April 20112 on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings and protecting its victims, and replacing Council Framework Decision 2002/629/JHA;”.
