Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 20th December, 2019.

I, JOE MCHUGH, Minister for Education and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (3) of section 54 of the Universities Act 1997 (No. 24 of 1997), inserted by section 37 of the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) (Amendment) Act 2019 (No. 32 of 2019), hereby make the following order with respect to which, pursuant to subsection(9) of that section 54 , a draft has been laid before each House of the Oireachtas and a resolution approving the draft has been passed by each such House:

1. This Order may be cited as the Universities Act 1997 (Section 54(3)) (University Authorisation) Order 2019.

2. The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland is authorised to use, in respect of itself, the description “university” and to style itself accordingly.
